Bryce Menchaca is a Texan through and through: a seventh generation San Antonian whose lineage dates back to the formation of Texas itself. Currently living in Denver, Bryce has one foot on each side of the line. On one side he is a descendent of the founders of Texas, and on the other he’s a new frontiersman, carving his own path in the state of Colorado. Bryce’s 7th generation grandfather, Jose Antonio Menchaca (a contemporary of Sam Houston), was one of the founders of the state of Texas and battled at the Alamo. Bryce Menchaca is a descendent of strength and courage.
In his 23 years he has attended military school, private school, public school and has been homeschooled: each having provided a unique perspective on growing up which has allowed him to express himself in ways which are distinctive to many of his peers.
Currently a student in the Commercial Songwriting program at the University of Colorado Denver, Bryce is often tasked with writing songs on the fly with a particular feel. When asked how this might affect his own songwriting Bryce simply replied "Commercial songwriting is a challenge, of course. You inherit an emotion, and you inherit a task - and while that doesn’t necessarily represent my own experiences or perspectives, it strengthens me as a songwriter. I might be asked to write from the perspective of a cactus in the Texas sun, or a rainbow, or a dying bird… These are things I couldn’t personally imagine, but it forces me into a position of empathy which enhances my own songwriting.”
To date, Bryce has released 2 full length albums, 4 EP’s, and 7 singles culminating in a deal with BMG Music Publishing. “I’m honored to be a part of the BMG family. I am most excited to focus on touring and playing live. Being so deeply rooted in Texas, I can’t help but find inspiration in old-school country, blues, folk, and all the rest. However, my first musical awakening was far from my roots when I heard The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen for the first time as a child. I also love indie-rock and I’m always on a mission to meld all of those sounds into something that is truly me. Chasing various sonic possibilities and finding my unique alchemy is what drives me forward.”
Bryce was awarded Best Score for the film “Destination Unknown” at the 2020 FTTG Awards as well as multiple other songwriting accolades. He has appeared at intimate shows with SoFar Sounds, clubs, theaters, street festivals and major music festivals including Electric Forest 2022 and a main stage slot at the Underground Music Showcase 2022 and 2023 in Denver Colorado. Bryce's live performances landed him an acting role in "Just Jake", a made for television movie, aired in 2023 about an emerging country singer-songwriter.
“I love being able to make music, and I look forward to all the years, shows, collaborations, and opportunities that await me.”
Bryce Menchaca is releasing a new music Spring 2024.
